{"id":3731,"date":"2020-08-11T12:07:20","date_gmt":"2020-08-11T04:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.getdrivemark.com\/my\/?p=3731"},"modified":"2022-08-29T10:18:17","modified_gmt":"2022-08-29T02:18:17","slug":"miros-signs-mou-with-drivemark-imu-malaysia-and-incision-malaysia-for-nationwide-road-safety-awareness-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.getdrivemark.com\/my\/miros-signs-mou-with-drivemark-imu-malaysia-and-incision-malaysia-for-nationwide-road-safety-awareness-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"MIROS signs MoU with DriveMark, IMU Malaysia, and Incision Malaysia for Nationwide Road Safety Awareness Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SAFE DRIVE, SAVE LIVES<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">Collaboration Towards a Nationwide Road Safety Campaign<br \/>\nto raise awareness of road traffic accidents and reward safe driving<br \/>\nbehaviours between MIROS, IMU, InciSioN Malaysia and DriveMark<\/p>\n<p><strong>BANGI, 11 AUGUST 2020<\/strong> \u2013 The International Medical University Malaysia (IMU), together with the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS), InciSioN Malaysia and DriveMark, have signed a memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate towards a <strong>Nationwide Road Safety Campaign<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>This collaboration is aimed to leverage on each other\u2019s networks and resources to meet the following objectives:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Research on driving behaviour data to develop policies that can reduce road traffic accidents through behavioural change;<\/li>\n<li>Encourage and reward safe driving behaviours through a National Safest Driver Challenge (NSDC); and<\/li>\n<li>Educate drivers on road traffic accidents and promote safe driving behaviours through awareness campaigns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This collaboration will enable <strong>driving behaviour data to be collected through the DriveMark app throughout the NSDC for the purpose of analysis and research<\/strong> so that we can understand better the correlations between various variables such as (age, car type, gender, driving behaviour, location, etc) and accident occurrences. Through this, we can also identify <strong>effective methods of incentivising drivers to consistently exhibit safe driving behaviours<\/strong>. We hope to be able to run the NSDC annually with recognition of safe drivers given by the Government as this will enable more data to be collected and used for research purposes. Through this collaboration, we intend to propose data-driven policy papers to the authorities and policy makers in the future.<\/p>\n<p>This collaboration will also enhance the reach of the <strong>education and awareness programmes<\/strong> among various stakeholders including the youth, especially those between 16 \u2013 25 where they usually get their first car to drive, as well as the general public, to reduce the number of road accidents. This is in line with one of IMU Community Engagement\u2019s anchoring pillars based on the <strong>UN Sustainable Development Goal Target 3.6 \u2013 By 2020, halve the number of global deaths and injuries from road traffic accidents<\/strong>. A series of seminars will be hosted, covering a range of topics regarding the statistics of road traffic accidents alone, but includes the prevention of accidents, intervention during an accident as well as post-accident support needed by victims of the accidents. We also hope to reach out to the general public through other means such as radio stations, social media and other available platforms.<\/p>\n<p>We hope to collaborate with more partners in this nationwide campaign and hope to have the support of the media to spread the message, as well as corporate sponsors for the events and rewards for the NSDC throughout the year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; End&#8212;<\/p>\n<h3>About IMU<\/h3>\n<p><em>IMU owns and manages a medical university known as International Medical University that offers various programmes, amongst others in the fields of medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and health sciences together with an active medical research centre. Serving the community is a vital part of the university and through its Community Engagement Department, staff and students are given the platform to contribute back for the betterment of our society and this is one of the many efforts by the IMU Community Engagement Department.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>About InciSioN Malaysia<\/h3>\n<p><em>InciSioN Malaysia was established in 2019 as a registered charitable body. It is a national non-profit organization consisting of medical students, residents and young doctors throughout the country who wish to tackle any social, global health issues including global surgery. We work towards the common goal of access to safe, timely and affordable surgical healthcare for all. DriveMark is a transparent ecosystem that encourages and nurtures drivers to be safer. DriveMark scores driving behaviour through an app that reads sensor data from modern smartphone.
