Official Press Release by Petronas Dagangan Berhad on 1st February 2019

Kuala Lumpur, 1 February 2019 – PETRONAS Dagangan Berhad (PDB) today launched its annual Coffee Break campaign to promote safety amongst motorists, especially those travelling during the upcoming festive season.

Travelers during this Chinese New Year celebration can rest and refresh with complimentary coffee and snacks, from 2 to 3 February and on 9 and 10 February for the post-CNY journey at 150 participating PETRONAS stations across Malaysia.

They also stand a chance to be rewarded in the inaugural National Safest Driver Challenge carried out in collaboration with Katsana, a company that manages the GPS tracking and fleet management system.

The Challenge is conducted via DriveMark, a safety mobile application which keeps track of driving behaviour and rewards safe driving actions with positive score and vice-versa. To be eligible to participate, motorists need to download the DriveMark App available at Google Play Store and Apple App Store, and drive a minimum distance of 200km from now until 28 February.

Minister of Transport YB Anthony Loke, who officiated the launch, said PETRONAS Coffee Break Campaign and the National Safest Driver Challenge initiatives are in line with promoting safe driving behaviour.

“It is important for drivers to stay fresh and alert so that they are better equipped to drive safely and courteously. In this regard, PDB’s initiatives are most welcomed,” he added.

PDB’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Sri Syed Zainal Abidin said “PDB takes road safety seriously and the PETRONAS Coffee Break Campaign is one of our flagship road safety campaigns, introduced since 1998. The Campaign supports the Government effort in reducing road accidents through reminding drivers to take regular breaks and drive safely towards their destinations to celebrate the festivities with their loved ones.”

The National Safest Driver Challenge will reward two grand prize winners with 100,000 Mesra points (equivalent to RM1,000), RM1,000 Touch ‘n Go credit, 10,000 PLUSMiles points and RM10,000 DriveMark Personal Accident Coverage for 12 months. There will also be 50 special prize winners who will receive 5,000 Mesra points, RM50 Touch ‘n Go credit and RM10,000 DriveMark Personal Accident Coverage for 3 months, as well as 2,750 consolation prize winners.

During the Coffee Break campaign, the Road Safety Department will also educate the public on road safety tips. PERODUA car owners will receive complimentary vehicle inspection, and in addition, there
will be free health checks for all by St John Ambulance of Malaysia at selected PETRONAS stations.

On top of that, between now and 3 February, motorists who purchase RM30 of the newly launched PETRONAS Primax 95 with Pro-Drive will be entitled to RM1 off any Kedai Mesra items. The new fuel was engineered based on drivers’ current needs and promises to deliver a smoother, more responsive and efficient drive.

The Coffee Break Campaign is also supported by PDB’s partners including Nestle’ Products Sdn Bhd, Julie’s Marketing Sdn Bhd, Mondelez Malaysia Sales Sdn. Bhd, Munchworld Marketing Sdn Bhd and Shopee.
